Intuitive Collage Workshop

Service Description

Collage is an artform that has always inspired me. The wonderful thing about collage is that you do not need to be a technically proficient artist; you just need to have the eye of an artist. You take images, pictures, drawings, textural materials, words, etc., and you layer and assemble them to create a new and exciting image. The process is different for everyone. Some people start with an idea in mind and then search for images that are in line with that vision, some people create collages that reflect their dreams and desires (vision board), the method I prefer and the method that will be taught in this class, is the free association method, or Intuitive Collage. All art, the act of creation, is spiritual. Letting the Divine work through your hands to create something worthwhile, meaningful and beautiful. When I create a collage, I will usually find a first image that speaks to me and then start collecting images that I subconsciously associate with that image. It is similar to picking Tarot or Oracle cards, you are steadily building a story, something your subconscious, your Guides, or your Highest Self wants you to know or express. Usually, I have no clue what I am creating until it is finished, then after some contemplation I get the message. Sometimes it’s serious, sometimes it’s fun and humorous, and sometimes it’s just a piece of beauty. The class includes a board to construct your collage on, various media and magazines for images, scissors, and glue. It would be helpful for the student to have their phone, as part of the process involves taking a picture of the collage for reference during glue-up. If someone has a medical condition that limits handling scissors, or perhaps just poor hand-eye coordination, I will be available during class to help with any images they choose. Sometimes an image is complex and requires a lot of time-consuming cutting, I can also assist to free them up to focus on other images.
